FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

White Coast Charters FAQs

What is a RIB? (+/-)

A Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) is a lightweight but high-performance, high-capacity boat constructed with a rigid hull and flexible tubes. The design is stable and seaworthy.
They have been used as work boats (supporting shore facilities or larger ships), military craft (where they are used in patrol roles and to transport troops between vessels or ashore) and lifeboats. Due to their stability and rugged seaworthiness RIBs make excellent leisure boats, ideal for family fun and water skiing.

Do charters sell out frequently? (+/-)

There are times when the tours get fully booked well in advance, so if you have a special date in mind for a charter it's advisable to book early.

What exactly do we see during a tour? (+/-)

Each tour may be different due to the length of tour booked, time of day and weather conditions. Typically we will head south from Denia where there are some beautiful bays to stop for a swim.  Our RIBs have shallow keels which allows us to manoeuvre into very shallow water and even up close to the caves between Javea and Moraira which you can swim or snorkel into. We also blast out to sea for fantastic views of the coast.
Wildlife:
Many species of birds can be seen along our stretch of the coast including a variety of Gulls, Cormorants, Swifts and even Herons. Eagles are frequently spotted soaring high above Cabo de San Antonio.
A variety of fish inhabit the small bays and coves where we go snorkelling. Octopus and flying fish can often be seen.  You may even get lucky and find a pod of dolphins or even a Sunfish swimming alongside the boat.

What if I want to visit a particular bay? (+/-)

We are happy to take our guests’ preferences into consideration, especially for private charters. Please bear in mind that the final choice will be determined by the wind and sea conditions and will be at the discretion of the Skipper.

Is the boat safe? (+/-)

Absolutely. Our boats are safe and comfortable RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats). Used by countless life saving organisations around the world RIBs are extremely stable and more comfortable than traditional fibreglass sports boats. Along with your skipper there may be (depending on the size of your party) a crew member to make sure that you feel comfortable and at home on the water. We aim to create a relaxing and safe experience for all our guests. We are stocked with life jackets should you feel you want to wear one. The boat is examined for safety and seaworthiness and certified annually

Is the boat legal? (+/-)

100%. Our boats are registered, safety coded and hold the necessary local charter licences. We hold public liability insurance.

Is the skipper qualified? (+/-)

All of our skippers are commercially qualified for charter vessels and are highly experienced RIB skippers with good local knowledge.

Is there an age limit for these tours? (+/-)

While there is no age restriction on our tours all guests under 16 should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Are dogs allowed on board? (+/-)

No. Unfortunately, for reasons of safety, dogs are not allowed on board.

Are gift vouchers available for the tours? (+/-)

Yes, gift vouchers are available for our tours and they make a perfect gift for birthdays, holidays or any other occasion! To purchase a gift voucher please contact us.

How fast are the boats? (+/-)

RIBs by their very nature are a high performance vessel. Blue Dolphin, our 7.5m Cobra, is capable of over 40 knots. However, we spend most of the trip at an exhilarating 25-30 knots for a more relaxing and comfortable experience.

What is a knot? (+/-)

1 knot = 1.15 miles per hour. 40 knots = 46mph

Am I likely to get seasick? (+/-)

Our RIBs are very exciting boats and people are usually having too much fun to get seasick.

Is there a toilet on the boat? (+/-)

No, due to the smaller nature of our boats there are no toilet facilities on board. We strongly recommend using a toilet before boarding.

Can I stow my bag during the trip? (+/-)

There are stowage lockers available to store handbags and other valuables. Please keep in mind that we cannot take responsibility for any broken, lost or missing items.

Do you have any fun/leisure equipment on board? (+/-)

Yes, we have woggles and adult and child snorkelling equipment.

What should I wear and bring with me? (+/-)

We suggest that you wear whatever makes you comfortable. Light coloured clothing, sun glasses, a hat, swimming costume and sun protection. Bring a towel if you’re going to swim or snorkel. Please note that only soft soled shoes are allowed on board. During the early spring and late autumn you are advised to bring a jacket. Don’t forget to bring your camera for those once in a lifetime shots … and your smile!

Where are you located? (+/-)

Our home port is El Portet in Denia. Please check where we are on the location map, this can be downloaded and printed from your computer.

Is there parking? (+/-)

Will I get wet? (+/-)

Probably not but RIBs are open boats and if there is a strong wind combined with moderate waves some spray may be experienced.
